  • Day 1 Hanoi - Cat Ba National Park (L/D)
    • To start your adventure tour in Vietnam, you will be collected from your hotel in Hanoi's old quarter at 08:00 to begin the drive to Dinh Vu Harbour. You will then take a 45-minute high-speed boat to Cat Ba Island. After that, you will go to Cat Ba town for lunch.

      In the afternoon, you will trek to Viet Hai Village through Cat Ba National Park which is a haven for both bird watching and sightseeing amidst the pristine forest and at Frog Lake. Along the way, you will have the chance to see native cats, squirrels, spotted deer, snakes, thousands of butterflies, and if you’re lucky, one of the rare Cat Ba Langurs.

      Rounding out the day, you’ll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in a bungalow in the local village of Viet Hai.

      - Highlights and activities: Cat Ba Island, Cat Ba National Park, Viet Hai fishing village, and a 10-12km trek.
  • Day 2 Lan Ha Bay (B/L/D)
    • Breakfast will be served at 07:30 followed by a walk to the top of Marine Hill which offers panoramic views of both Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay. On returning to Viet Hai Village, you can try a fish massage or take some time to relax before cycling to Viet Hai Harbour. From here you will board the boat to explore the beauty of Lan Ha Bay. Lunch will be served on-board followed by kayaking excursion around Hang Luon Cave, and if it is hot, the boat will take you to some beautiful wild beaches where you can spend some time swimming and snorkelling before having dinner on-board and spending the night on the boat.

      Highlights and activities: Viet Hai village, Marine Hill, Hang Luon Cave, Lan Ha bay, a 3-5km trek, and 1 hour of kayaking.

  • Day 3 Lan Ha Bay - Cat Ba - Hanoi (B/L)
    • After enjoying breakfast on the boat with the sun rising in the background you will continue the cruise around Lan Ha Bay, weaving among the myriad of limestone peaks. On this last day you will also get to visit a fish and shellfish farm and the colourful floating village of Cai Beo. Lunch will again be served on-board (or on land if we have new passengers waiting to embark). You will disembark at around 11:30, return to Hanoi, ending your tour of Lan Ha Bay and Cat Ba Island.

Hellen was since the first contact so professional and friendly. She helped me with the booking of a bus from Ba Be Lake to Hanoi. Also I booked 3 day in Halong Bay, everything was perfect. It just was a couple of issues during the tour, but the agency does not have any responsibility. Afterwards I booked a bus to Phong Nha. Everything is going perfect with this agency

Travel, trekking and trying out the local cuisine

We booked a private tour with Mr Linh's following recommendations from previous visitors (who went trekking in Ba Be National Park). This did not disappoint.
Our guide, Loi, was really friendly, adventurous and kept us entertained and enthused on our treks and time on the boat.
We started with a drive from Hanoi, and then onto the afternoons 8km trek across the national park to Viet Hai village - a hard but rewarding trek, with good walking shoes and a daypack essential...Read More! Our guide helped us to understand the local wildlife. We stayed overnight in Viet Hai Village bungalows (reviewed separately) which offered a basic but comfortable accommodation and a nice dinner (our luggage arrived by boat later in the afternoon). Day 2 was a shorter trek up to view the bays, enjoyable despite the difficult terrain and misty weather, we cycles too the harbour to meet the wooden junk boat. The junk was clean and comfortable with a small cabin and basic bathroom. We had a wonderful lunch followed by a busy afternoon of kayaking and swimming in the bay. Another fantastic seafood dinner followed, and we slept comfortably. Day 3 included a visit to a local floating village fish farm, a trek on monkey island (beware hungry monkeys on arrival), and another lovely lunch before driving back to Hanoi.
We had a brilliant time with lots of unforgettable experiences, our guide Loi really helped us to understands and enjoy North Vietnam! Read Less

I took the 3D-2N Cat Ba National Park trip and would recommend this company. The trip was great value for money and I was able to customise it completely.

Helen assisted me and was absolutely amazing - she was so helpful and responsive both before and during my trip even with lots of requests. I did 2 days of trekking in the Cat Ba National Park including walking up Navy Peak - the scenery is incredible and it’s so peaceful (wear proper hiking boots if you’re c...Read Moreonsidering it though). There was also a 1hr boat trip to Cat Ba Town - also stunning. I stayed in Viet Hai village at a bungalow which I would also really recommend - the staff there were so nice and friendly and the setting is beautiful. Incredible 3 day tour of Lan Ha Bay and Cat Ba island

I would say this is a must do if you are traveling in the north of Vietnam. Our tour took us to the lest touristic but most beautiful parts of the area. We stayed at an amazing fishing village. We had a private bout take us through la han bay, which is way less crowded and every bit as beautiful as Ha Long bay. Cat Ba island and Monkey island were among the most picturesque and charming places I have ever been. Our guide, Tu, was very sweet, informative, and accommodating.

...Read More One small note: please be advised, if you do the tour we did, you will need to back a small bag for 3 days, that you can carry on a hilly 4 hour hike. We were not aware of this and had to lock up our larger luggage at our guide's house. It was a minor inconvenience but it worked out fine. Read Less

Leaving Hanoi we were collected at the hotel by shuttle bus & went to Cat ba national park hiked for approximately 3-4hours to a homestay where we spent our first night, the second day we travelled to Halong bay stayed overnight on a “cruisie” which my daughter and I had to ourselves. The captain preparing the freshest taste bud tingling food for us, you would struggle to get that kind of quality in many restaurants.Views from the boat amazing.
