Pu Luong & Cuc Phuong Jungle Trails Trek 6 Days 5 Nights

Highlights:

  • Warm-up and full-day trekking in Pu Luong among terraces, bamboo groves and Thai villages
  • Forest immersion in Cuc Phuong with route choice guided by weather and trail conditions
  • Visit the Endangered Primate Rescue Center and the Cave of Prehistoric Man
  • One night deep inside the national park at Bong Center
  • Heritage stop at Hoa Lu Ancient Capital before heading to the coast
  •  Overnight cruise through the limestone seascapes of Lan Ha Bay

  • Day 1: Hanoi to Pu Luong Nature Reserve (L/D)

    • Leave Hanoi behind and drive south-west towards the limestone mountains and rice terraces of Pu Luong. After lunch, begin with a gentle warm-up walk through Thai villages, stilt-house hamlets and valley paths. The afternoon is designed to settle guests into the rhythm of the trip rather than push for distance on arrival day.

By late afternoon, return to your lodge or homestay and enjoy a quiet mountain evening surrounded by one of northern Vietnam's most peaceful landscapes.
      - A 5-7 km trek
  • Day 2: Full-day trekking through Pu Luong (B/L/D)

    • Today reveals the heart of Pu Luong. Set out on a full day of trekking along village trails, rice-terrace paths, bamboo groves and forest-edge tracks. The route can be shaped to the group, but the aim is always the same: to keep the walk varied, scenic and deeply connected to local life.

Along the way there is time for rest stops, simple local encounters and a picnic lunch in the countryside. This is the day that gives the reserve its real character - not only beautiful views, but a living agricultural landscape with a strong sense of place.
      - A 12-15 km trek
  • Day 3: Pu Luong to Cuc Phuong National Park (B/L/D)

    • After breakfast, continue by road to Cuc Phuong National Park, the oldest national park in Vietnam. On arrival, visit the Endangered Primate Rescue Center and the visitor interpretation area before moving deeper into the forest for an easy walk to the Cave of Prehistoric Man.

Later in the day, continue to Bong Center in the heart of the park for an overnight stay in simple forest bungalows. As daylight fades, the atmosphere changes completely and the sounds of the jungle take over.
      - A 3-5 km trek
  • Day 4: Forest trekking in Cuc Phuong - Ninh Binh / Hoa Lu (B/L)

    • This is the main forest day of the program. After breakfast, set out on one of Cuc Phuong's deeper trails. In dry and stable conditions, stronger groups can tackle the more demanding May Bac / Silver Cloudy Peak route. In wetter weather or for a more moderate day, guides can use the Fossil and Ancient Tree Loop or the Thousand-Year-Old Tree and Palace Cave trails.

Whichever route is selected, the experience is built around old-growth forest, giant trees, jungle atmosphere and the sense of moving through one of Vietnam's great natural sanctuaries. After the trek, drive on to the Ninh Binh / Hoa Lu area for overnight.
      - A 7-12 km trek depending on route
  • Day 5: Hoa Lu Ancient Capital - Lan Ha Bay overnight cruise (B/L/D)

    • This morning, step briefly out of the forest and into history with a visit to Hoa Lu, the former imperial capital of early Vietnamese dynasties. Explore the temple complex and the sheltered limestone setting before continuing east to the coast.

Board your overnight cruise in Lan Ha Bay and let the journey change pace once more. Forest trails give way to a seascape of limestone islands, quiet coves and open decks - an elegant final chapter after several land-based adventure days.
      - Overnight: Lan Ha Bay cruise
  • Day 6: Lan Ha Bay - Hanoi (B)

    • Wake to the stillness of the bay and enjoy a slow morning on the water. Depending on the cruise program, there may be time for a final scenic sail before returning to port.

Disembark and transfer back to Hanoi, arriving later in the day with memories of terraces, forest trails, old capital country and the sea.
