UNESCO World Heritage Site, is renowned for its spectacular rock formations emerging from the turquoise water. However, if you want to escape the tourist crowds and discover unspoilt landscapes, Lan Ha Bay is the place to be.
Before embarking on this adventure, here are a few practical tips to help you make the most of your kayaking experience.
First and foremost, choose a time of year when the weather conditions are favorable. Spring and autumn generally offer pleasant temperatures and clear skies, ideal for carefree paddling. Avoid the rainy season, as heavy precipitation can make navigation difficult or even impossible.
As far as equipment is concerned, it's essential to wear light, comfortable clothes that are suitable for physical activity. Make sure you take a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen to protect yourself from UV rays, as you'll be exposed to the sun for long periods.

August 2024 - Kayaking in Halong bay
Today, a dream came true: kayaking in Halong Bay!
From the moment I arrived in Ha Long, I was captivated by the splendor of the landscape. Vast limestone formations rise up from the turquoise sea, creating a landscape that is simply splendid. I planned to take a kayak trip to explore this exceptional environment. The sun beat down intensely on my face as I settled on the beach, paddle in hand.
The turquoise water sparkles before my eyes, while the imposing karsts rise majestically to the horizon. I'm off to discover Halong Bay by kayak, a dream come true!
The perfect itinerary
I should point out that I had two choices: Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay. Halong Bay is more famous and crowded, while Lan Ha Bay is wilder and more isolated. To make the most of my experience, I chose a two-day excursion that combines Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay. The first day is dedicated to exploring the magnificent karst formations of Ha Long Bay, while the second day is spent in the calmer, wilder waters of Lan Ha Bay.
The excursion
Paddle at your own pace
Kayaking allows you to discover the bays at your own pace and in an enjoyable way. By carefully observing the local flora and fauna, I was able to fully savor the splendor of the scenery. I even came face to face with a few mischievous monkeys on one of the islands!
A moment of relaxation and escape
A peaceful, relaxing kayaking experience, far from the crowds and noise of the boats. It's an opportunity to reconnect with nature and savor the silence that surrounds you. A true moment of comfort!

I booked my excursion through a local agency. In the morning, I was picked up at my hotel and driven to the embarkation dock. After a brief safety briefing and a nap, I boarded a double kayak accompanied by an experienced guide.

Day 1- Halong Bay kayaking
As we settle into our kayak, excitement builds, ready to discover the wonders of Halong Bay. The calm waters are illuminated by the morning sun, while the imposing karsts rise majestically to the horizon.
Exploring the crystal-clear waters, we discover mysterious lagoons and hidden caves. We feel totally free, and are immersed in peaceful silence, disturbed only by the sound of our paddles.
In the afternoon, we head to a sandy beach for a well-deserved picnic. The turquoise water makes you want to take a dip, and we relish this moment of relaxation to contemplate the wild splendor of the landscape.
At the end of the day, we return to our traditional junk for dinner. The sunset illuminates the sky with brilliant colors, creating an unforgettable spectacle.
Day 2 - Lan Ha Bay kayaking
Today we discover Lan Ha Bay, which is just as impressive as its neighbor.
By kayak, we venture between islands and islets, exploring limestone formations covered in lush vegetation that we're told is home to a rich and diverse fauna.
In the late afternoon, we make our way to a floating fishing village, where the locals give us a warm welcome. We share a moment of authenticity and explore their traditional way of life.
At the end of the day, we have the opportunity to take a cooking class on board our junk, before enjoying a delicious meal prepared from fresh local produce.
In closing, it's worth mentioning that kayaking in Halong Bay was an exceptional experience... This kayaking escapade in Halong Bay and Lan Ha will remain engraved in my memory as an extraordinary experience. The spectacular scenery, unspoilt nature and immersion in the local culture made it a unique experience.

Lan Ha Bay is famous for its biological diversity and rich marine ecosystem, making it a haven for snorkeling enthusiasts.
