This 3-day Kayaking and Trekking in Ba Be National Park, you will experience boating on the river, hiking through the forest, staying with two different ethnic families, cooking traditional food, trekking in the mountains, kayaking in the lake as well as visiting a local school. It is certainly an action packed trip getting back to nature and meeting local people.

  • Day 1: Hanoi - Ba Be National Park (L/D)
    • Your tour guide will pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi for the journey to Ba Be National Park. The journey in a comfortable car is around 5 hours passing through Thai Nguyen City down Highway 3. Lunch will be served up a local restaurant. You will then set off of on foot to follow the Nang River trail to a tunnel cave "Puong Cave" in the Dao ethnic village. From here you hike, through the rain forest looking for wildlife and hiking to the summit for panoramic views. You will then visit Hmong villages before we reach a Dzao ethnic village. You are invited to join the host preparing the traditional food which will be cooked on an open fire and you may enjoy some local corn wine with your meal. You will stay overnight in a traditional Dao house.
  • Day 2: Trekking In Ba Be's Jungle (B/L/D)
    • You will have a traditional breakfast which may comprise of noodles, pancakes or omelette and bananas and should be considered a luxury in this remote area of Ba Be. Leaving the Dzao village, it is a 10km hike to a H'mong Village where you may meet the children at the school. Often we will take some sweets, pens and notebooks as it is great to be able to give them a small gift. You will find a nice spot for a basic but tasty picnic lunch that we have brought with us. The last 10 km to Coc Toc village is undulating and a little bit of a workout, crossing Coc Toc Stream where the villagers make a living by fishing on Ba Be Lake. On hot days here, it is great to jump into the lake to cool off and take the chance to relax a little in the water.  That evening you will enjoy a superb dinner on the river terrace enjoying the superb hospitality of Mr Linh’s family, who are specialists in cooking up local dishes, before spending the night in their deluxe Tay stilt house.

  • Day 3: Ba Be Lake - Hanoi (B/L/D)
    • After a breakfast of pancakes and Vietnamese coffee will be served on the open-air balcony taking in stunning views. You will then paddle out across the lake in kayaks to discover the beauty of Ba Be Lake in the morning before saying goodbye to this little paradise. You will then travel to Hua Ma cave, a dry cave which far Ba Be lake 11 km by car, following the river south and then snaking from pass to pass through the hills of Central North Vietnam. You may find the locals are fascinated by you for few tourists ever travel to this way. You will then join the main road to Hanoi, with a short stop for lunch, and you will arrive in Hanoi before dark.
