DETAILED ITINERARY

  • Day 1: Hanoi – Ba Be Lake (~235 km) (L/D)

    • We leave Hanoi early and travel through quiet rural routes toward Thái Nguyên. The scenery shifts from delta farmland to rolling forested hills as we approach Ba Bể National Park. Arrive by late afternoon, settle into a Tày stilt-house homestay, and enjoy a home-cooked dinner beside the river.
  • Day 2: Ba Be Lake Exploration (B/L/D)

    • A relaxing day on the water. We take a boat trip through Ba Bể’s emerald lake system, navigating limestone gorges, jungle cliffs, hidden caves, and small ethnic villages. Optional short treks or local markets depending on schedule. A gentle day before the mountain stages begin.
  • Day 3: Ba Be – Bao Lac (~180 km) (B/L/D)

    • Today we ride west through scenic, lightly trafficked mountain roads. The landscape becomes wilder, with terraced slopes, river valleys, and rugged passes leading toward Bảo Lạc. This is the gateway to the karst frontier and H’Mông highlands. Overnight in a local guesthouse.
  • Day 4: Bao Lac – Ma Pi Leng – Đong Van (~120 km) (B/L/D)

    • One of the most dramatic riding days. We climb into the spectacular terrain of the Nho Quế River Canyon, conquering the world-famous Mã Pí Lèng Pass. The road curves along vertical cliffs with jaw-dropping views. Arrive at Đồng Văn Old Quarter by late afternoon.
  • Day 5: Đong Van – Ha Giang (~150 km) (B/L/D)

    • Morning visit to the H’Mông King’s Palace before traversing the rocky geopark back toward Hà Giang via Lung Cu, Sủng Là, and Yên Minh. A mix of stone deserts, pine forests, and high mountain passes. Overnight in Hà Giang City.

Explore all the Ha Giang province wonders

  • Day 6: Ha Giang – Bac Sum – Tung San (~100 km) (B/L/D)

    • We leave the city and immediately climb the twisting ridge of Bắc Sum Pass, a narrow spine of road overlooking deep valleys. From here, paved roads fade into dirt trails leading to Tung San, a remote H’Mông area untouched by mass tourism. Overnight in a simple homestay.

Read more about the hidden gems Ha Giang offers to the adventurers
  • Day 7: Tung San – Lung Ho – Xin Man (~80–100 km) (B/L/D)

    • A pure border trail day. The path hugs cliff edges, crosses river streams, and winds through high-elevation H’Mông villages. We enter Lũng Hồ, a spectacular rice-terraced kingdom, then descend into Xín Mần, a lively Nùng & H’Mông hub. Overnight in a homestay.
  • Day 8: Xin Man – Nam Ty – Hoang Su Phi (~80 km) (B/L/D)

    • Another day of ridge-top riding. Narrow tracks rise into the misty terraces of Nậm Ty, a Red Dao region famed for its herbal baths and ancient farming terraces. We continue to Hoàng Su Phì, one of Vietnam’s most stunning terraced landscapes. Overnight in a Dao homestay.
  • Day 9: Hoang Su Phi – Vinh Quang (~60 km) (B/L/D)

    • A gentle recovery day after three challenging off-road stages. We ride through bamboo forests, tea hills, and La Chí communities as we descend toward Vinh Quang. Free afternoon for relaxing, light local market visits, and rest.
  • Day 10: Vinh Quang – Bac Ha (~100 km) (B/L/D)

    • A smooth ride toward Bắc Hà, famous for its vibrant highland market and Flower H’Mông culture. Depending on the day, we can visit a traditional market or explore surrounding villages. Overnight in Bắc Hà.
  • Day 11: Bac Ha – Luc Yen – Vu Linh (~130 km) (B/L)

    • Ride south through limestone valleys and gem-mining towns of Lục Yên, then continue to Vu Linh, a peaceful Dao community by Thác Bà Lake. Enjoy a lakeside stay and cultural evening with local families.
  • Day 12: Vu Linh – Hanoi (~165 km) (B/L)

    • A relaxing ride back toward Hanoi through rural backroads, tea plantations, and scenic dike roads. Tour ends mid-afternoon in the capital — completing one of Northern Vietnam’s most adventurous and culturally rich expeditions.

10 day trek in Ha Giang, Dong Van, Ba Be, Bac Ha
Review of: Northern Loop Adventure 11 days 10 nights
My wife and I just completed a 10-day trek with Mr Linh's Adventures, traveling in the Ha Giang region of North Vietnam, staying in a combination of homestays and hotels, trekking through minority villages, rice paddies, markets, etc. The trip was excellently organized, our guide was knowledgeable, our driver (when needed) was safe, the views were stunning, the food very tasty and the accommodations distinctly memorable, friendly and comfortable. Along the way we saw Dao, Tay, Hmong ...Read Moreand Lo Lo ethnic minorities. Highly recommend Mr. Linh for a unique experience and you will also be off the main tourist drag. Read Less

Amazing tour
Review of: Northern Loop Adventure 11 days 10 nights
We recently booked a 10 day tour of the north of Vietnam (Sapa & further north) with Mr Linh Adventures. We wanted something “off the beaten track”, private tour and we wanted to leave the next day - a tall request. We found Mr Linh Adventures office on Ma May street. We explained our requirements to Mr Linh, the owner of the company who quickly put together an excellent itinerary for the 10 ten days. We had a dedicated tour guide and driver who Mr Linh assured us were ex...Read Morecellent at their jobs.
The next morning we were collected by Linh our tour guide (not to be mistaken for Mr Linh the owner) and Bao our driver - the car was of excellent condition. We started at Hanoi and headed for Sapa, our first stop and then headed onwards for the next 10 days following the intinerary set out. We stayed in various homestays and hotels that were prefixed by the company. Some were more authientic than others but all provided a wonderful host service and the food was excellent at each place.
Our Tour guide Linh spoke excellent english and is highly informative in all areas. Linh knowledge of his country was second to none (this may have something to do with him also being a history teacher) and he was always happy to take the time to share all the information with us, from the local food that he would source out for us (we ate delicious food for the 10 days due to Linh and Bao knowing the best places to eat) to history of the caves, lakes, rice fields, minority people and their traditions and so on. An excellent tour guide that exceeded all our expectations. Linh takes exceptional care of his clients and provides you with a great sense of care while never over stepping his professional role – a fine balance indeed for a tour guide and someone you are sharing 10 days with that you had never met before.
While we met other travelers along the way with other tour guides, each had complained about their tour guide for one reason of another, so we understood how lucky we were to have Linh, who clearly outshone the other guides. Ling knows his job extremely well and we were very thankful for this.
Our driver Bao, is an exceptional driver who knows his job very well. Bao knows how to drive to ensure his clients felt safe (which we did) at all times even when the roads and routes were very tricky.
Throughtout the trip, we can sincereyly say that Ling and Bao made our time so much more special!
If you ever find yourself in Hanoi I would highly recommend anyone to book Linh and Bao for a trip up north. Read Less

My parter and I went on a 10 day trekking tour through the Ha Giang provence and Ba Be National Park with guide Mr Long and driver Mr Nam and had a fantastic time!! Firstly the scenery and views were spectacular whether we were on foot or driving in the car. Our guide Mr Long was excellent; he spoke good english, knew the area very well and took us to some excellent spots that not many others know about. Mr Long made sure the trip was personalised for us, from food and drinks we liked to...Read More the type of trails we liked. Our driver was also very good and we enjoyed our time with them both.
