Northern Vietnam’s Off-Road Ridge Trails 12 Days 11 Nights
Ride deeper into Northern Vietnam than ever before on this 12-day expedition that blends iconic karst landscapes with secret border ridge trails known only to a few experienced riders and local H’Mông communities. This unique route begins with the tranquil lake systems of Ba Bể, climbs into the stone canyons of Mã Pí Lèng, crosses the UNESCO Đồng Văn Karst Plateau, and then diverges from all standard routes to enter a hidden world of narrow off-road ridges, tribal villages, jungle passes, and mist-covered river valleys.
From Hà Giang, the loop breaks away from the tourist trail entirely — crossing Bắc Sum, Tung San, Lũng Hồ, Xín Mần, Nậm Ty, and Hoàng Su Phì along a 4-day off-road segment that links H’Mông, Red Dao, La Chí, and Nùng territories. The expedition finishes through Bắc Hà’s highland markets, Lục Yên’s gemstone villages, and the lakeside stilt-house region of Vu Linh before returning to Hanoi.
This is Northern Vietnam’s most adventurous and culturally immersive long-distance motorbike expedition — ideal for riders who want more than a simple loop, and prefer the challenge of trails where almost no travelers go.
