Cambodia’s Southern Islands

Introduction

The islands of Koh Rong and Koh Rong Sanloem offer a tropical paradise experience with enough activities and entertainment to satisfy even the most festive traveler.

Koh Rong

Koh Rong is a small paradise in the Gulf of Thailand, some 25 km off the Cambodian coast. With its white sandy beaches, turquoise waters and lush tropical vegetation, it's an ideal destination for lovers of idleness and nature. The island offers a wide range of activities, including scuba diving, hiking in the primary forest, boat trips and visits to fishing villages. More touristically developed than its neighbor, with numerous hotels, resorts, restaurants and bars, especially on the west coast, Koh Rong offers more activities and nightlife, attracting a younger, more festive public.

Koh Rong's most beautiful beaches

- Lonely Beach: White-sand beach with crystal-clear waters, accessible by water cab from the main village.
- Long Set Beach: Long, quiet beach, accessible on foot or by water cab.
- Koh Tui: Neighboring island with beautiful Coconut Beach, accessible by shuttle boat.
- Sok San Beach: Wild, unspoilt beach, accessible by foot, boat or footpath.

Koh Rong Sanloem

Koh Rong's twin sister, Koh Rong Sanloem, is a quieter, wilder island just 20 minutes away by boat. Its fine sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters and lush vegetation make it a true oasis of tranquility. The island attracts travelers in search of authenticity and contact with nature. The main activities are diving, hiking, kayaking and fishing. A number of small, eco-friendly resorts and ecolodges make it possible to take full advantage of the charm of this unspoilt island, far from the hustle and bustle of tourism.

Koh Rong Sanloem's most beautiful beaches

- Long Beach: A long, white-sand beach with turquoise waters, accessible from the main village by boat or on foot.
- Saracen Bay: Palm-fringed paradise beach, accessible by boat from the village.
- Sunset Beach: Ideal for admiring the sunset, accessible by boat or on foot from Saracen Bay.
- M'Pai Bay: Fine sandy beach with crystal-clear waters, accessible by boat from the main village.
As with Koh Rong, the most convenient way to explore Koh Rong Sanloem's beaches is by boat. Boat timetables linking the different beaches vary according to the season, so it's best to check with your hotel.
