Travel Route: Hanoi - Hoa Binh - Mai Chau

We’ll pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi at 7:30AM, and begin our drive to Mai Chau. We’ll make stops along the scenic route for photo-taking, and also visit a Muong village before going through Thung Khe Pass and enjoying the spectacular view of Mai Chau Valley for here.
At 11AM we arrive in Mai Chau, and you’ll have time for a quick rest and an authentic lunch in the home of a local family belonging to the White Thai Tribe. In the afternoon we grab some bicycles and ride through the narrow paths of the countryside, surrounded by terraced rice paddies and minority villages on all sides. We’ll make visits to the Pom Coong and Na Phon villages, experiencing the daily life of the Thai minority, before getting in a car and driving back to Hanoi at around 16:00.

Adventure trek

Review of: Mai Chau Walking & Cycling Day Tour

Overall: I recommend Mr. Linh's adventure for the more adventurous parts of your trip. We have chosen a private tour. Day 1: transfer to pu luong in a comfortable SUV. We arrived around 2pm in the afternoon. Normally we stayed in a homestay, but due to landslides and flooding (which followed from a tropical storm) our tour guide and driver immediately moved us to a resort that was higher. Our tour guide arranged everything at reception for the rooms and payments. In the afternoon we briefly visited a village in the valley. Day 2: trek through the rice fields and hills of pu luong. Our tour guide was waiting for us at the hotel to start the trek. He led us through adventurous roads and across rivers. We stopped in a local village for dinner. Local food in Vietnam is an absolute must. The tour guide knows a lot about local life and Vietnam in general. The driver will pick you up at the end of the walk. Day 3: mai chau + transfer to hanoi. We checked out at 8am in the morning. We started driving to mai chau. Here we stopped briefly and walked around. Then we stopped at a chopstick workshop, where you can see the whole process of bamboo chopsticks. After this we ate in a local restaurant. We arrived in hanoi around 2pm.

Cultural and Scenic tour with Mr. Ky

Review of: Mai Chau Walking & Cycling Day Tour

My Wife and I had booked a 3 day 2 night tour to the North of Hanoi, however due to impeding Typhoon we decided to change plans for a 2 day 1 night tour a bit more south. Mr. Linh’s Adventures was very accommodating with our desire to change and recommended we spend time in Mai Chau. Our Guide, Mr. Ky arrived on time at our hotel in Hanoi with a drive and comfortable vehicle and helped us find a trustworthy currency exchanger prior to leaving the city. As we made our way toward Mai Chau we stopped at a few roadside attractions and cafe’s where Mr. Ky introduced us to his friends and explained local customs and culture to us. We felt welcome at every stop and there was never a shortage of food or drink. I have a food allergy and Mr. Ky made sure all of the meals were safe for me to eat on the whole trip. Our activities included bicycling through Mai Chau, eating lots of delicious local food and trekking from village to village through jungle paths that seem relatively untraveled by tourists. We encountered far more Buffalo than we did tourists. The owner of the homestays where we slept/ate were very friendly and we spent a long time talking about our respective cultures to one another. All in all Mr. Ky made our experience very memorable and wishing we were able to stay for more. We plan to return again for more travel with him.

3 day / 2 night Mai Chau - Pu Luong National Park

Review of: Mai Chau Walking & Cycling Day Tour

We found the tour online after researching Pu Luong National Park. All the booking was really easy and Kevin responded to all queries immediately including a last minute change in collection.

We were picked up in Hanoi at exactly the time informed. Our tour guide Huy introduced himself and told us the plan for the day. The bus was comfortable and we stopped a couple of times on the way. Huy helped us try some sticky rice cooked by the local people and explanined the history. We travelled with our two girls aged 7 and 9 and Huy made them feel really comfortable.

Once in Mai Chau we were picked up by our home stay family by motorbike which was really exciting for the kids (and us!)

The homestay was fantastic and in a very beautiful village. The accommodation was much better than expected and we had a lovely room in a traditional stilt house.

The food throughout was cooked by our homestay family and was fantastic and really varied.

Huy was great at adapting the itinerary to suit our family. We did lots of activities including cycling, walking and going on motorbikes! Huy managed to get bikes for the girls and was really patient and went at a pace to suit us. Whilst there were lots of activities to see the amazing scenery, there was also lots of down time so we could enjoy the culture. Our girls made friends with some local Vietnamese children which was really special to watch.

Our homestay family did not speak English but we could communicate through hand gestures, smiles and footballer names! Huy helped translate when needed and whenever we needed to buy anything from the local shops.

We would highly recommend the trip and Huy was fantastic. He even offered to show us round some local street food places once back in Hanoi which was so much fun and visited places we never would have found.

2 Day / 1 Night Mai Chau - Pu Luong

Review of: Mai Chau Walking & Cycling Day Tour

This trekking was for us very easy going (with easy I mean the walking part) but very impressive! First we went to Mai Chau and after that to a village in the Pu Luong area where we stayed at a homestay offered by a lovely Thai minority family (OMG the food was delicious!). We learned a lot about Vietnam, the nature, caves and also how important tourism for this area is and that Mr Linh's Adventures is doing a great job helping to improve tourism in this area and supporting the minority. We had a great guide and driver. Bui Tri Nha you are great and learned us a lot!! Big up. Thank you Mr. Linhs Adventures for this experience.
