Welcome to a little-known Vietnam, far from the crowds and beaten track. Ba Be National Park is one of those hidden gems that are worth seeking out and reward travelers with rare beauty and profound authenticity.
A brief overview
Established in 1992, Ba Be National Park spans over 7,600 hectares. Situated about 250 km north of Hanoi, it's home to Vietnam's largest natural freshwater lake, Ba Be Lake. The park is surrounded by limestone mountains covered in dense forests and serves as the ancestral home of several ethnic minority communities, including the Tay, Dao, and Hmong people. Here, nature, culture, and adventure come together, inviting travelers to fully immerse themselves in a preserved natural setting.

Unique biodiversity
The park is a true biodiversity hotspot, earning it a "Type A" classification from scientists. It's also designated as a Wetland of International Importance (

ASEAN Heritage Park. The park is currently in the process of being designated as a Biosphere Reserve and a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.
It serves as a refuge for endangered species like the François' langur (Trachypithecus francoisi) and the Tonkin snub-nosed monkey (Rhinopithecus avunculus) and is also home to many species of migratory birds. Some approximately 1,200 plant species are recorded there (including 200 orchid species), 81 mammal species, 322 bird species, and no less than 106 fish species. The region is characterized by dense tropical forests and mangroves, as well as medicinal plants used by local communities.
